History of music videos and how institutions get them out to the viewer
Institutions use different forms of media to promote their music videos, back in the 1960s, movies were used to promote a song, giving it a look from the film and it gets it out there, for example the Beatles harnessed the power of film to market their records and express themselves as artists. This worked with a lot of artists, until later, at the end of the 20th century. This was where the birth of music videos began along with music television/channels. MTV was launched in 1981 and still continues to date, with it being now a massive company giving institutions a chance to show off their new stars and artists. This meant sales went up and helped them get the music videos showed and out to the viewers. As technology becomes more advance, so does the music videos, with now Youtube, itunes and music channels, the viewers now have easy access.
